JOSEPH’S COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING ENGINEERING 2018 The department offers B.E. in Mechanical Engineering with an annual intake of 120 students, M.Tech in Product Design and Manufacturing, Computer Integrated Manufacturing, Machine Design and Tool Engineering with an annual intake of 90 students. Research and Development established in 1986 offers M.Sc. (Engg), Integrated Ph.D.and Ph.D. programmes under VTU, Belagavi. Both B.E (Mechanical Engineering) and M.Tech are Autonomous programmes. B.E in Mechanical Engineering got accredited by NBA, New Delhi for three years in 2000, for five years in 2003, 2008 and for three years in 2015. M.Tech in Product Design and Manufacturing got accredited for three years in 2014. The department is engaged in sponsored research, consultancy, testing and characterization majorly in the areas of advanced materials development, processing and design. (Engineering by research ) The Department of Telecommunication Engineering was established in the year 1992. It offers one UG programme – B E in Telecommunication Engineering, two PG programmes – (i) M.Tech in Digital Communication Engineering, (ii) M.Tech in RF & Microwave Engineering and Ph.D are affiliated to VTU. The curriculum is designed to provide a hands-on approach to design, build and demonstrate fundamentals, concepts and design of hardware, software, Embedded Systems, networks and protocols. The department focuses on five core specializations namely Communication, Signal processing, Embedded Systems, Microwave communication and Networking. The UG and PG programmes create graduates with good level of competency to compete with other streams and offers a wide choice of career opportunities in industry, R&D and academia. About the Department: Department of Telecommunication Engineering The department imparts Quality Education in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering through focus on Fundamentals, Research and Innovation for Sustainable Development. The department is offering UG program in Telecommunication Engineering with intake of 60, post PG in Digital Communication Engineering with intake of 36 and in RF and Microwave Engineering with intake of 18. The admission eligibility to the programs is as per VTU and KEA norms. The curriculum of the programs is in “Outcome Based Education (OBE)” frame work.. The Telecommunication Engineering graduates are able to compete with circuit branches and are placed in core areas, IT sectors and services etc., Graduates with Telecommunication Engineering have shown interest in higher learning and public service exams. The post graduates in Digital Communication Engineering are able to place in wireless & Cellular Technologies, networking, Signal Processing areas. The post graduates in RF and Microwave Engineering are able to place in wireless & Cellular Technologies, RF Communication System Design areas. The department has created three industry specific laboratories – (i) RVCE- Keysight RF Lab supported by M/S Keysight Technologies, (ii) RVCE- Tejas Optical Networks Lab supported by M/S Tejas Networks, and (iii) Pace Embedded Systems Lab supported by M/S Pace Micro Electronics PVT Ltd. To strength the industry-institution interaction, the department has MoU’s with M/S Lekha Wireless Communication and M/S Prudent Communication Systems. This department functions with 22 teaching faculty with 7 Ph.D holders, 15 teaching staff (11 are pursuing their Ph.D) and 11 Support staff. ADMISSION IN ST JOSEPHS COLLEGE
